It's been 190 days since we moved to Orkney, to the Island of Hoy which seems completely unbelievable. 190 days is a little over six months. I then also realised that it's been 190 days, really, since I've written anything for the blog.
When we got the call from our solicitor to say our offer had been accepted my mind went into OVERDRIVE.
After the initial squealing and popping of champagne corks - ok popping of one Cava cork - the blog idea was born. What better way to capture this weird and wonderful ‘journey’ we’d just signed ourselves up to than to have me rambling on about it?
My thoughts, the renovation, the difficulties the challenges, the fun stuff, all of that.
The thing is, I’m really shit at inner accountability and keeping promises to myself, so after 3 whole posts, I stopped.
Work and life got proper busy. We had a number of things to navigate, such as the weather, putting in some insulation, adjusting to a house temperature of 14 degrees, getting snowed in when visiting family in Kent, covid and of course my seemingly never-ending workload.
So today, I am coming to you to say that I am getting started again.
My plan is to allow myself some quiet time, distraction free, to write and see what comes out of my tiny mind - hopefully some useable content!
The next few posts will be catching up, as sedate as life now is, quite a lot has happened and we (Erik) have made some real progress on the house, too much for one post.
I will be back on Sunday 2nd April with update 1.
P.S. Saw the Northern Lights for the third time since we’ve been here — I know!
